Make more of your own energy with rooftop solar and home battery storage. Aussie Standards Electrical helps western Brisbane homeowners explore new installations, upgrades and battery integration around their household needs. Tell us what you already have and what you want to achieve; the right setup starts with your home.
Tell us about any existing solar system, your typical power use and what you want to achieve.Scoped around your property. No one-size-fits-all promises.
THE WORK WE CAN DISCUSS
A clear scope. A practical next step.
Every property is different. Here is what to consider before we agree the work.
01
Rooftop solar installations and upgrades
Explore a new solar installation or an upgrade to an existing system. Roof suitability, shading, household usage, available electrical capacity and network connection requirements all shape the proposed design.
02
Battery assessment and integration
Discuss adding a battery to an existing or planned solar system, including available space, intended energy use, outage priorities, system compatibility, isolation, commissioning, and safe operation. Battery backup is not automatic and may require an islandable configuration and selected circuits.
03
Existing-system assessment
Discuss your current inverter, system performance or electrical faults before planning the next step. Keep clear of damaged solar equipment: panels and wiring can remain energised in daylight even with mains power disconnected.
HELP US UNDERSTAND THE JOB
What helps a useful quote?
Share the property suburb, a brief description of the service needed, and whether the request concerns an existing solar or battery system, a new installation, a fault, storm damage, or outage-related concern.
Provide clear photos from ground level only, plus inverter or battery model information, visible error messages, recent electricity bills if relevant, and any available installation, shutdown, maintenance, or warranty documents. Do not open equipment or touch damaged wiring.
Explain your priorities, such as using more solar, reducing grid purchases, or keeping selected appliances operating during outages. Ask for a written quote that identifies assumptions, exclusions, licensing, product choices, warranty responsibilities, and expected timing before approving work.
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Solar & batteries: useful answers.
Can a battery keep my whole home running during a blackout?
Not necessarily. Backup depends on the battery, inverter, changeover or islanding configuration, phase arrangement, system size, and which circuits are connected. Some systems support selected essential circuits only; many solar-only systems shut down during an outage. A site-specific design is needed, and backup duration depends on energy use and available charge.
What should I do if solar panels or a battery are damaged, wet, or flooded?
Stay away and treat the system as live, even if mains power is off or equipment looks dry. Do not touch wiring, panels, inverters, batteries, or switches. Call 000 for immediate danger, such as a shock, fire, or fallen powerline; stay clear of fallen lines. Call the business for electrical repairs. Network outages are different from faults inside your home.
What information is needed before quoting solar or batteries?
Useful information includes the suburb, existing system details, inverter and battery models, switchboard and phase information if known, roof or equipment photos taken from a safe distance, electricity usage, outage priorities, and any available documents. A site assessment may still be required to confirm access, condition, compatibility, safety, approvals, and scope.
Will solar or a battery automatically reduce my bills?
Not automatically. Bill outcomes depend on generation, household demand, tariffs, export limits, system design, battery losses, operating settings, and the installed cost. A battery can store excess solar for later use, but its financial benefit may not cover its cost within its warranty period. Request written assumptions rather than relying on blanket savings claims.
